Unique One-Piece High Quality Housing W/ Sight Window:
A custom CAD designed roto-molded housing made from heat soak resistant material eliminates the use of multiple components and ensures the coolest air intake charge available. A large clear sight window allows for filter inspection without removal of the air box. The roto-molded housing is made out of black cross-linked polyethylene. A urethane plug is also included for those cold weather applications where you want to block the auxiliary air scoop.
High Quality Tube:
This system uses a high quality plastic CAD designed, dyno-tuned, roto-molded intake tube to achieve maximum power gains while maintaining a perfect fit. The 6061-T6 aluminum ends allow for the most air flow through the two outlets of the intake tube by maximizing the inside diameter of the tube. The aluminum inserts provide strength and durability that will outlast the life of car.
Large 5-Layer Performance Air Filter:
This Momentum GT intake system was designed around the largest filter possible to allow maximum performance and filtration. This cone filter has a massive oval flange and is 8" tall. The Pro 5R performance air filter features 5-layers of progressively finer mesh cotton gauze oiled media and is constructed with 100% polyurethane frame for long life and multiple cleaning cycles.
A premium stainless steel T-bolt clamp ensures the most secure installation available. Momentum intakes are designed with fewer parts for a quick and simple installation.

- Nice intake...
Installed on a 2009 135i.
Fairly straight forward install - toughest part for me was loosening the rear clamp on the air intake (under the cowl). Very tight space - ended up sliding off the tray running across the top of the cowl holding two wires. Provided a little more space to get a socket onto the nut of the clamp.
Overall it took me about 45 minutes to install (certainly would have been shorter if I didn't have to figure out best way to get at the rear clamp). The only annoyance I can see is when filter will need service - I have to loosen the two clamps again to rotate the intake tube in order to remove the filter. Certainly not as simple as the factory air box, or exposed cone filters.
I really do like how it looks under the hood. Fit and finish are excellent - it assembles perfectly and nestles right into the engine bay as if it came from the factory. The viewing window is a nice touch both for function and form.
As for performance, I do think the car breathes better and it does feel like a stronger response in the butt dyno. Interestingly it seems like it has cut some of the drone from the aFe exhaust I have on the car, but I conclude that's purely in my head and not really the case...I should also note installed the aFe scoops behind the grille as well - which was an amazingly simple install!
Overall very happy with the system - aFe produces some very good quality components for the dollar.
