aFe POWER is proud to introduce our new BladeRunner GT Series Bar and Plate Radiator for the Jeep Wrangler JK! Offering a much more durable design than the stock tube and fin radiator, this bar and plate design is made for the toughest environments. We've been putting this radiator design through months of extensive testing to make sure it exceeds our toughest demands. Our friends over in the Middle East also put our radiator through around a year of hard testing in some of the harshest deserts in the world, and our radiator kept engine temperatures in perfect operating range at all times, even with a supercharger equipped! This is mainly because of the sheer volume of coolant our radiator holds over stock. Our bar and plate radiator gives your Jeep the ability to work harder for longer in the most extreme environments around the world.
Our bar and plate radiator holds 25% more coolant than stock, includes 5-ply silicone hoses, and features a 1-3/4" bar and plate core design with 1/8" aluminum fabricated end tanks. The entire unit is 1/8" 5052 TIG welded aircraft-grade aluminum for strength and durability. All of this means you won't find a radiator built this tough! We designed our radiator to work with the factory mounting locations, and even included an easy drain system to allow you to flush your system without creating a mess, and allowing you to save your coolant for future use in case you ever need to. The stock radiator drain on Jeep JK models comes out the side, which means your coolant would come out and create a mess to try to catch if you ever had to service it.
We've made sure to put this design through all of the tests we could think of to make sure this bar and plate radiator is up to the aFe standard of quality. After rigorous months of testing, we're proud to say this radiator far surpasses all of our expectations. Physically, it has the same design as one of our bar and plate intercoolers, and that proved to be a great choice for our premium radiator for all model Jeep Wrangler JKs. The Wrangler JK was our first platform of choice because of the wide range of environments that Jeeps are put in around the world. In order to stress test our product effectively, we needed to see it perform in all environments equally. We are proud to claim this as one of the toughest radiators available on the market. We were anxiously awaiting the Pirelli World Challenge Championships to come to streets of Long Beach, California so we could see the action up close. For two solid weeks the streets of downtown Long Beach were shut down in full preparation for the Toyota Grand Prix racing events, and thousands of people packed in to see the action over the course of all the races. aFe POWER headed out bright and early Saturday and set up in the Pirelli World Challenge Racing Paddock where we hosted our booth filled with goodies. It was fantastic to meet all of you and talk about the races while handing out our special giveaway items. If you drive a diesel truck you know how quickly diesel fuel can dirty things up. Everything from your engine oil, fuel filters, and fuel pumps get contaminated much quicker than standard gasoline powered vehicles. aFe POWER knows this, and decided to develop a solution. The DFS780 fuel system adds an extra layer of protection for your vehicle, starting at the fuel delivery system. This is the most effective place to start, as diesel fuel isn’t as refined as gasoline. This is mainly because diesel fuel is used to lubricate and cool the engine as it runs, and less as the driving force keeping the engine running.
There are considerably more dirt and water particles floating around your diesel fuel as well, and the actual amounts will vary depending on where you fill up. It’s important to filter out these particles because this is what wears out the internal engine components over time, specifically your fuel injectors and pump seals. The aFe POWER DFS780 filters out these particles and separates any water from your fuel to ensure your engine only gets the clean diesel fuel it was intended to get. It also eliminates any microscopic air bubbles that may get trapped in your diesel fuel. This is important because if any microscopic air bubbles get trapped in your diesel fuel and reach your high-pressure pump, they can cavitate when they leave the fuel injectors. This will subject your injectors to stress and over time will ruin them, leading to costly repairs.
The DFS780 and DFS780 PRO aftermarket fuel systems are designed specifically for certain platforms to be bolt-on solutions with no cutting, drilling, or welding required. These systems can be run with the stock lift pump for added protection and redundancy in case your stock fuel system fails, or it can be run by itself. For those who have diesel trucks that don't fall in the category of bolt-on solutions, we offer the DFS780 MAX. The DFS780 MAX is a universal pump solution that can be run on any diesel vehicle to deliver the flow that your system needs. There may be some cutting and drilling required to install the DFS780 MAX system, but you'll retain all the benefits of our quality motor and seal technology, along with an adjustable pressure regulator and compact design.
In our testing, any DFS780 system we installed on our vast fleet of diesel trucks improved the feel and response of the vehicle, especially when towing over long distances. We’ve found that the more modified the diesel truck, the greater the performance can be felt from the DFS780 fuel system. However even on our stock diesel rigs we run the DFS780 fuel systems to take advantage of the added insurance knowing our engines are protected from those unwanted dirt, air, and water particles that can wreak havoc on the fuel delivery system over time.
The M4 filters out road and wind noise surprisingly well, and puts in its place real sounds coming from the engine bay through the speakers into the cab. However, once the aFe Power cat-back exhaust system was installed, the exhaust tones were much more noticeable in the cab and gave a deep growl throughout the power band, adding to the overall driving experience. [JM1] The aFe cat-back exhaust for the M4 also takes advantage of the butterfly valve that comes factory equipped to make the exhaust either quiet and refined or loud and aggressive at the push of a button. [JM1]I found that there was a performance sound but it was still refined and not excessive. Also, you have control over how loud the exhaust is with the two different modes. The aFe exhaust utilizes the factory exhaust valves. So you choose between a quieter mode through the muffler, or a louder mode when the exhaust valves are set to use the open exhaust path.
aFe POWER is very familiar with the BMW M4. We’ve had at least three M4s here at the factory full time over the years to develop products for. With all that time spent testing, we’ve learned quite a lot about the successor to the M3. The M4 is a powerhouse that not only screams around a track, but does so intelligently with technology that BMW is world renown for. The twin turbocharged six-cylinder engine has a response that rivals the previous 4.0L V8 in the old E92 M3, and redlines at a screaming 7,500 rpm. The handling on the M4 is sharp, considering its weight of around 3,500 pounds, and hugs corners with precision. BMW decided to use electronically assisted steering, and luckily it feels tight and points the M4 where you want to go with a firm and consistent feel. Other cars with electronic steering sometimes make the driver feel disconnected from the road. The weight of the steering wheel is more on the heavy side, especially when in Sport+ mode, which helps you feel more connected to the ground when throwing the M4 into a hard corner. We knew the suspension could benefit from a thicker set of sway bars, and set about creating a pair for the front and rear to give the M4 the edge it needed in the corners. Coupled with the set of lowering springs, the suspension immediately had a more race-oriented feel.
Overall, the BMW M4 is a solid value that puts down serious performance numbers like 0-60 times ranging from 3.8 – 4.2 seconds depending on which options you choose, and greatly benefits from any of our aFe POWER bolt-on performance parts.
Traction holds very well with BMW’s stability control system, and doesn’t feel like it’s intruding on your driving experience. The electronically controlled Active M-Differential will allow for a little bit of tire slip if the driver wants to push the limits more when cornering. However, when the traction control is turned off, the M4 can easily disappear in a cloud of smoke thanks to its massive amounts of torque delivered to the rear wheels almost instantly. When we installed our aFe POWER Momentum intake for the M4, the power jumped 17 horsepower and sound of the turbos became more evident under acceleration.
The M4 is a true driver’s car. All the technology in this car is designed to bring the road to the driver with little distraction. The generous use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic is used throughout the M4 to save weight, and electronic driver assists are re-tuned from BMW specifically for the M4 to achieve the tight feel in the corners. The mono-scroll turbos deliver power instantly not unlike the feel of a supercharger, and that power is delivered to the rear wheels via a carbon fiber drive shaft for optimal performance. Four electronically controlled dampers help keep the wheels planted in high speed corners and can also deliver a smooth ride around the city.
BMW claims only about 50% of the components on an M4 are shared with a standard 4 series, which shows just how involved the BMW M GmbH engineers were in the process of tuning the M4 to make it as precise as it is. This BMW comes with tons of creature comforts like 10-way electronically adjustable front seats with driver memory to support up to two different drivers. A standard 16-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system with two dedicated bass woofers under the front seats to provide clear and powerful sound. Dual zone climate control with both heated and vented seats work very well even in extreme hot or cold weather. There are also 360-degree parking cameras and enhanced Bluetooth capabilities all to benefit the driver. Under the hood, the aFe Power Matte Carbon Fiber Engine Cover and BladeRunner Intercooler Tubes serve to give the M4 engine bay the appearance it deserves.
Safety isn’t compromised either with the performance-oriented M4. Front and side airbags with active knee protection comes standard, even for the backseat passengers. Impact sensors can detect a crash and immediately disconnect the fuel pump, alternator, and starter from the battery. The sensors can also automatically unlock the doors and turn on the hazards upon impact. The massive brakes are also able to bring the M4 to a full stop from 70mph in a just over 150 feet.
We’re always looking for ways to get you the most horsepower and improve the user experience with our products. In the case of our Scorcher modules, we’ve found a way to incorporate Bluetooth technology into the module itself to allow for control of the Scorcher from your cellphone. Now, instead of having to route the button inside your cab, you can change your performance mode easily from our app you can download from your native app store. Our app also allows you to view some data about your vehicle like engine rpm, boost psi, 0-60 times, ¼ mile times, and more. All of this was not possible on our previous generation Scorcher module. Ultimately this means more control of your vehicle with piece of mind knowing more of what’s going on internally on your ride.
Another feature of the Scorcher blue is the ability to easily remove the module itself and cap off the wire harness to put the vehicle back to stock without having to touch the actual sensor plugs again. This means if you need to take your vehicle in for service you can just remove the module, cap off the end, and you’re as good as stock. You'll also be able to update the module from the app to make sure you're always getting the most performance possible.
The Scorcher Blue has no complicated modes to set up or tunes to upload, just plug in the unit to unlock your vehicle’s full potential at the push of a button. You'll immediately see just how much power your vehicle was missing right off the lot of the dealership. aFe POWER was proud to attend the MainStreetClosure Event in Downtown Riverside presented by Black Market Window Tint, Dusty To Ducky, and Premium Auto Styling on March 18th! The event had all types of vehicles from European exotics to built off-road trucks. Some of the hottest tuner cars in So Cal all gathered in Downtown Riverside that day to show off their rides, and aFe POWER was proud to be right there in the middle of the action. Hundreds of vehicles showed up as display vehicles and thousands of spectators gathered to check out the event throughout the day. There were vehicles of all types with aFe POWER parts on display, from lifted Jeeps to lowered BMWs, we were happy to see such variety right here in our backyard. The event took place only a few miles away from our Headquarters in Corona, California. We look forward to doing this event in the future, and be sure to follow our social media accounts @afepower to stay up-to-date on all events we will be attending!
What started out as an overcast and rainy Saturday morning turned out to be perfect weather for a cars and coffee meet in beautiful Southern California. In our first official cars and coffee of 2018, we set up shop around 6:30am to prepare for the dozens of cars that came to visit our event throughout the day. By the time 7am came around we had a whole row of cars of all kinds of makes and models filled up in front of our headquarters. In the minutes after, we had many more cars come in together and start wrapping around our building as space started filling up. Then more cars started showing up around 8am, including three Ferraris! Coffee and donuts were going fast, and the sun started coming out more and more. By 9am the weather was as perfect as a Spring day in SoCal could get, and by 10am we held our raffle, giving away a few goodie bags to some lucky winners. We here at aFe POWER would like to thank everyone who came out that day to visit our headquarters and show off their awesome builds!
