- AFE ProDry S & Snorkel Delete is Stealth Technology
- I wanted a DRY air filter, and was intrigued by the open-end design of the 11-10133 for my 2012 Ford Focus 2.0 (yes, it also fits the 2012). The installation was a piece of cake, and even easier than with an OEM since there's no small tab to line-up. Firing the car up, and going for a drive, the sound is GLORIOUS, but some might consider it LOUD. I'd sometimes put a foam spacer over the open end, depending upon who might be driving the car, but it was still audibly louder than stock and I'd try to avoid WOT given who else was in the car. Then I did the popular "SNORKEL DELETE" (check out focusfanatics.com for dyno charts) and the intake noise was almost gone! In its place was a beautiful, but only slightly audible, sound of performance that we like, even at WOT. There's too much snow around here to see if the car is faster or if throttle response has improved, but I've seen the dyno charts and I've looked at the OEM filter, and I think that the additional port at the end of my Focus' AFE ProDry S will let it flow more (or more easily) air than other high flow filters, and should give instant throttle response, without the worry of oiling the MAF.. I'm not worried about heat soak, either, because, with the snorkel delete, I think that more air is also flowing through the existing intake and around the sides of the filter, and the air filter box opens into a protected area near the front of the car.
