Position Summary: The Design Engineer is responsible for the design and development of new high performance products for aFe's Exhaust Development group, as well as administrative direction of projects related to the prototype of products and sustaining engineering for existing product lines.

Roles & Responsibilities / Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):

  • Owns design projects from conception to release for automotive aftermarket components and applications; projects include new design innovation and also sustaining and VIP (value improvement projects) for existing applications.
  • Prepares and revises design drawings and prototype models for new products and components.
  • Ensures and verifies that designs meet requirements, adhere to product specifications, quality and cost parameters and achieve superior standards for manufacturing through inspection, product testing and design revision, as required.
  • Participates and provides input to Project Management activities regarding project development and completion timelines.
  • Works with technical and R&D staff to administer performance testing and analyze results.
  • Prototypes designs using aFe prototyping equipment, (ex: 3-D Printers, CNC)
  • Enters new products as well as product changes into systems and databases.
  • Create and maintains BOM (Bill of Materials) in MRP system
  • Writes test reports, and drafts technical verbiage for product instruction sheets.
  • Maintains engineering files and records for existing and new products.

Education: BSME with 3-5 years' experience related to automotive component design; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 3 years' design and drafting experience in an automotive field
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD systems, most notably Solidworks.
  • Working knowledge of MRP systems (MS NAV, helpful but not required), and familiarity with database software
  • Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of automotive mechanics
  • Superior and effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Working knowledge of MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
  • Strong collaborative skills

Position Summary: The Fabricator – Exhaust Development is responsible for supporting project leaders in the development, prototyping and test fitting of aFe exhaust applications.

Roles & Responsibilities / Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):

  • Provides fabrication / welding support for new and sustaining exhaust development projects
  • Visualizes concepts and produces physical models
  • Measures, tests, designs, prototypes and fits on vehicles
  • Completes project documentation and progress reports for assigned projects

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of one year in a manufacturing environment
  • 1 yr. min. MIG Welding, tube and metal forming required
  • 1 yr. min. sheet metal fabrication, required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • General automotive knowledge, mechanical aptitude, experience working on cars/trucks, preferred
  • Ability to comprehend simple written and verbal instructions and procedures

Position Summary: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and maintain production equipment and facilities, including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, HVAC and plumbing machinery and systems, and will maintain required documentation, manage inspections, and maintain maintenance schedules for aFe machinery and facilities.

Roles & Responsibilities / Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):

  • Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and plant facilities.
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Performs mechanical repairs and troubleshooting to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic machinery as well as ongoing facility maintenance of aFe irrigation, drainage, HVAC, lighting and plumbing systems.
  • Coordinates fire and sprinkler inspections with city/county agencies and vendors, and retains associated documentation.
  • Maintains preventive maintenance schedule for plant machinery, and facility equipment and ensures that preventive maintenance is completed and documented; maintains preventive maintenance records.
  • Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, performs tests and adjusts as needed as part of preventive maintenance or troubleshooting of machinery or facilities equipment.
  • Complies with all established safety regulations, Lock/Out Tag/Out, and machine safety as well as adheres to all PPE requirements and reports any hazards to management immediately.
  • Operates forklift as required.
  • Maintains forklift maintenance records and logs; schedules forklifts for service as needed.
  • Communicates and works closely with Operators to maintain clear communication and understanding of the equipment status to enable an uninterrupted production schedule.
  • Participates in meetings regarding maintenance and/or improvement projects pertaining to equipment as needed.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma and AA Degree in mechanical, electrical/electronic or industrial technology and maintenance and a minimum of 4 years in a facilities maintenance and/or industrial/manufacturing environment, or a relevant combination of education and experience.
  • Forklift Certification – stand-up and sit-down
  • 4+ years manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with HVAC.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair a variety of production machinery and mechanical assemblies such as, but not limited to, benders, saws, end formers, sanders, notchers, pleating machines, break presses.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair simple to complex operating systems
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of CNC controls, CNC repair (electrical/mechanical)
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of HVAC, lighting and plumbing systems, highly desired
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to read measurement tools, and perform basic shop math

Position Summary: The Filter Production worker is responsible for the production, assembly and packaging of various automotive filter components and filters and will operate a variety of manual and automated manufacturing machinery and utilize shop tools for filter production. This position will also perform tasks related to assembly and sub-assembly processes, inspection and other requirements as assigned. Essential Functions: (other responsibilities and/or duties may be assigned)

  • Operates automatic pleating machine by loading raw material filter medium, setting machine controls, and unloading pleated material.
  • Operates shop saw to cut filter material to specified width and length
  • Uses tools to clip filter medium to form filter shape per documented specifications.
  • Uses dispensing guns to add urethane to create filter tops and bottoms for oiled filters.
  • Loads, positions, and unloads automated filter carousel with filters for processing.
  • Uses trim tools to trim excess flash from completed part.
  • Inspects completed filter for defects and quality based on specifications.
  • Assembles and packages filters using packaging material per specifications.
  • Communicates machine issues and/or manufacturing process issues to management.
  • Follows all safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains a clean and clutter free work station.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to comprehend and follow simple written and verbal instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and meet specified production goals.
  • Familiarity with automated machinery, basic shop tools such as clippers, shop saw and trimming tools, a plus.
  • Possesses basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Basic/general understanding of automotive components (filter, exhaust, intake), desirable.

Position Summary: The Photographer/Graphic Designer is responsible for the day-to-day management of product photography, organizing and managing a schedule to shoot multi-angle product images, and preparing graphic images for publication to the company website. This person will coordinate with product project leads and schedule each product photo shoot based on product availability and will provide support to graphic

  • Photographs products, as well as edits, corrects and clips images of products for use in marketing materials.
  • Completes graphic design projects as assigned from inception to completion, ensuring the highest quality and 100% accuracy.
  • Works closely with each project lead to schedule photo and video shoots; follows established procedures on approval and submittal of content for publication at all times.
  • Manages assigned projects to ensure completion by firm deadlines.
  • Adheres to aFe standards of workstation organization and cleanliness and follows safety procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of photo composition, lighting, and use of digital SLR camera equipment

Position Summary: The Material Handler performs material handling and material movement activities as assigned in support of material management and manufacturing operations, and is responsible for putting away and distribution of raw materials, throughout the plant in support of production.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions (not a comprehensive list; other duties may be assigned):

  • Performs basic material handling activities: unloading trucks, dollies, carts; put away and distribution of raw materials from inventory location.
  • Prepares required documentation for material movements from raw materials throughout the plant and uses RF scanner for inventory accuracy.
  • Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Performs general duties such as manual lifting, labeling, and put away based on specifications in designated locations.
  • Utilizes power lifting equipment: pallet jack, forklift, stand-up, etc.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area, and monitors equipment to ensure it is in good condition and operational.
  • Follows safety procedures, wears required PPE at all times and notifies management of any observed safety risk or hazard.
  • Performs related duties as required by supervision.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma and minimum 3-6 months’ experience in warehouse or manufacturing environment or material handling role using RF Scanners, or relevant combination of education and experience.
  • Forklift Certification required – standing, sit-down.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to lift or move items up to 60 lbs.
  • Familiarity with RF scanners for inventory control.
  • Beginning to intermediate familiarity with computers, MS Office
  • Familiarity with database and inventory software, manufacturing/warehouse MRP, preferred.
  • Must be able to read and interpret instructions in English
