SENIOR DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER - SUSPENSION

Through its acquisition of performance off-road suspension leader Sway-A-Way in 2016, advanced FLOW engineering, inc. (aFe Power) continues to complement its existing offerings and broaden its reach in the automotive aftermarket marketplace with exceptional suspension solutions. Sway-A-Way shocks have long been a staple in the off-road enthusiast and racing communities, and aFe is committed to continuing the tradition of excellence as we bring new applications and technology innovations to our customers.

Due to increased growth in our suspension division, we are searching for an experienced Sr. Development Engineer who will be focused on the development, design, testing and release of off-road hydraulic shocks and suspension components. This position will innovate and closely collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure product standards are met for design, performance, manufacturability, cost effectiveness and quality for all new and sustaining projects.

Roles and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Designs and develops off-road hydraulic shocks and other suspension components in support of Sway-A-Way off-road product lines and applications.
  • Implements sustaining engineering activities for Value Improvement Projects (VIP) on existing applications based on new supplier or material qualifications, cost efficiencies and/or process and design improvements.
  • Provides technical support, failure analysis and problem-solving assistance on issues related to product design intent/function, manufacturing or quality.
  • Identifies opportunities and devises plans for implementation of cost saving ideas to provide design and/or manufacturing process advantage.
  • Communicates product performance requirements effectively using product drawings as well as application and performance specifications.
  • Translates specification requirements into materials, drawings, bills of material (BOM), procedures and instructions for assigned products.
  • Processes engineering changes and ensures that all related systems are updated with documentation for design modification, and updated procedures.
  • Collaborates closely with production, and manufacturing on an ongoing basis for all projects.
  • Develops and executes product validation test plans and implements lab and road tests; tracks, documents and reports on testing results.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated competence of hydraulic engineering, suspension and shock technologies.
  • Proficiency in 3D Modeling, preferably with SolidWorks.

PAYROLL & HR SPECIALIST (Bilingual - Spanish)

aFe POWER is looking for an experienced Payroll Processor and HR Administrator with multi-company/division experience to join our busy HR team at our Corona facilities. This vital bilingual role will build great relationships with all levels of the aFe team and have primary ownership of full-cycle payroll and time/attendance processing for apx. 200+ employees located at our companies in California and Indiana. Reporting to the Director-Human Resources, this position will also provide administrative support to HR processes including employee onboarding, recruiting, benefits/401(k), LOA, HRIS/file maintenance, workers compensation, employee relations, audit support and reporting.

Roles, Responsibilities and Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):

  • Generates time cards and works with department supervisors on exceptions, corrections and approvals.
  • Prepares, processes, audits and balances bi-weekly payroll for all companies including manual checks, bonuses, commissions, retro earnings, time exceptions and corrections, reversals/voids, special off-cycle payrolls and accrual corrections as needed.
  • Prepares and uploads bi-weekly 401(k) funding reports to 401(k) provider for all companies.
  • Enters and updates employee data in HRIS system modules (HR/Benefits, Payroll, Time & Attendance); processes employment status changes to job, pay, taxes, deductions, benefits, new hires and terminations.
  • Conducts orientation meetings for new employees and completes on-boarding documentation, time-clock set-up, safety training, E-Verify processing, badge/uniform, parking assignments; creates employee files.
  • Conducts benefits orientation for newly eligible employees, processes enrollments/terminations with carriers, reconciles carrier invoices and coordinates annual benefit open enrollment meetings.
  • Processes 401(k) enrollments and changes per provider feedback notices.
  • Pulls and retains per period payroll reports, quarterly and annual tax reports, benefit census, EEO, workers compensation audit and ad hoc reporting as required.
  • Responds to and processes external requests for employment verification, wage benefit audits, state or court mandated wage garnishments, liens and benefit orders in accordance with regulations and distributes documentation as required.

  • Administers injury claims including reporting, documentation, adjuster contact, claim files and work status coordination.
  • Maintains and updates employee files with all relevant documentation in a timely manner.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with application of state, federal, local employment and wage laws as applicable for payroll.
  • Intermediate-advanced knowledge of system-based timekeeping/payroll processing-ADP Workforce Now, highly preferred.

PROJECT COORDINATOR – EXHAUST DEVELOPMENT

Position Summary: The Project Coordinator – Exhaust Development is responsible for assisting the engineers and project leaders to source parts, obtain quotes, and work with internal department stakeholders to coordinate new product projects and production builds to meet scheduled release deadlines. This position will request part numbers, complete BOMs and work closely with Configuration Management to ensure parts are accurately loaded into applicable systems. The Project Coordinator will source and obtain quotes for new component parts, and vendors, obtaining quotes for existing product lines, and working with internal departments to ensure project releases are completed on time and that documentation is accurate.

Roles and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Creates project binder and folders on server for new projects.
  • Creates Part Number Entry Forms (RM and FG) and works with Configuration Management to ensure accurate data is entered into aFe systems.
  • Works with Product Development and Configuration Management to create BOM’s and ensures BOM is completed with all required data (i.e.: min/max, pricing, vendor info, etc).
  • Sources vendors and component parts, obtains quotes and coordinates delivery.
  • Coordinates first build purchases.
  • Works with Product Management to assist in completion of Product Data Files, New Product Announcements and Installation Instructions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Superior organization skills with high level accuracy and attention to detail.

FABRICATOR (JIG / FIXTURES) – EXHAUST DEVELOPMENT

Position Summary: The Fabricator – Exhaust Development will fabricate and weld jigs and fixtures in support of R&D activities for automotive exhaust applications and prototypes, using various tools, materials and techniques to create, revise and/or repair new and existing exhaust application components and tooling.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities (other responsibilities may be assigned):

  • Interprets design specification sheets, blueprints, or metric drawings as needed for assigned projects.
  • Uses knowledge of all core welding/fabrications tools to weld, cut, trim or scarf metal objects to dimensions, as required for assigned projects.
  • Accurately machines parts to required specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders, and saws.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow safety regulations
  • Wears all required PPE in accordance with safety regulations and manufacturing standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a shop environment.
  • General knowledge of fabrication, machining/welding equipment setup, process and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters.
  • Familiarity of conventional and precision measuring instruments.
  • Working knowledge of welding, fabrication and machining tools and equipment.

R&D TECHNICIAN – EXHAUST DEVELOPMENT

Position Summary: The R&D Technician-Exhaust Development provides mechanical support to Product Development in the installation of newly developed aFe exhaust applications. This position involves car/truck maintenance and repair, measurement, testing, fabrication/welding, prototype install and documentation support. The R&D Technician-Exhaust Development supports project leaders in their development duties. Projects involve developing new exhaust product applications from initial concept through production.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):

  • Provides automotive mechanical support to project leaders and design engineers on assigned projects.
  • Completes assigned task lists and project assignments as directed by project leaders according to established schedules.
  • Installs and troubleshoots fitment of exhaust products on vehicles; performs repairs & adjustments; troubleshoots mechanical and installation issues on a variety of makes and models of cars and light duty trucks.
  • Performs vehicle tests on prototype exhaust products and documents results, including sound assessments.
  • Performs market research online for assigned products to contribute to development process, and increase knowledge of current exhaust product design and innovation.
  • Attends exhaust team meetings, provides updates on current projects and assignments.
  • May visit vendor/supplier to deliver/pick-up vehicles, or parts.
  • May run errands for shop supplies or customer requirements as needed.
  • May generate or perform data entry, using Excel or approved company software, to update Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Adheres to all established safety procedures and wears applicable safety gear and PPE as required on the shop floor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to collaborate on projects, and present data/information in front of team members and management.
  • General Mechanic Certification or equivalent mechanical experience - experience in automotive repair, on various makes and models of cars and light duty trucks.
  • Intermediate to advanced MIG welding, fabrication skills (cutting, grinding, bending).
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and communicate effectively using email.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with diesel repair, a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of and experience utilizing dynamometers a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to read measurement tools and perform basic shop math.

Education and Experience:

PRODUCTION WELDER

Position Summary: The MIG/TIG welder is primarily responsible for welding thin gauge mild steel, stainless steel (409 & 304) and aluminum materials for the manufacture of automotive exhausts and intakes. Schedule: 6:00am – 2:30pm, Mon. – Fri. Roles & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Reads and comprehends job work instruction “process sheets.”
  • Places parts in specified weld jigs
  • Welds components or assemblies using MIG and/or TIG welding to required specifications
  • Welds exhaust and/or intake tubes and related fixtures.
  • Perform continuous inspection of welded/assembled products.
  • Completes requires job documentation and process reports for assigned jobs.
  • Monitors and report any fitment issues to supervision.
  • May also operate machines such as saws, tube expanders and tube benders, when needed.
  • Works at different workstations as production needs require.
  • Operates tier lift truck or hand truck to move, convey or hoist raw materials or finished goods
  • Perform production duties such as manual lifting of jigs and welded products
  • Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow safety regulations
  • Wears all required PPE in accordance with safety regulations, RPP and welding standards.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience with TIG/MIG welding process, wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys and aluminum
  • Working knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters
  • Ability to produce consistent, quality welds in a fast-paced environment, meeting output expectations.
  • Ability to comprehend simple written and verbal instructions, procedures and written process sheets
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Possess basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Education and/or Experience:

  • Welding Certificate from accredited welding program or school and one (1) year minimum experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment doing MIG and/or TIG welding, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
