How do I clean my aFe air filter?
  • aFe recommends you use one of our Magnum Flow cleaning kits.

  • Pro 5R & Pro 10R – Be sure to purchase the cleaning kit with blue oil
  • Pro Guard 7 – Be sure to purchase the cleaning kit with gold oil
  • Pro Dry S – Does not use any oil. Only purchasing a cleaner

How often do I need to clean my filter?

You should clean the filter around the 25K - 30K mile mark under normal conditions. In extreme dusty or dirty environments, you should check more frequently. Over cleaning the filter will shorten the life of the filter and reduce its filtration efficiency. Accumulating some dirt actually helps the filtration.

What is an aFe Power Magnum Shield Pre-Filter?

aFe Magnum Shield Pre-Filters protect your performance air filter and extends your filter cleaning intervals by removing large particles like twigs and bugs from the air stream prior to the air filter. This pre-filter is made of a dry weave fabric that does not attract dirt and cleans with soap and water.

C.A.R.B.
What is C.A.R.B.?

The California Air Resources Board, also known as CARB or ARB, is the "clean air agency" in the government of California.

Exempted parts are add-on or modified parts that have undergone an ARB engineering evaluation. If the part or modification is shown to not increase vehicle emissions, it is granted an exemption to emission control system anti-tampering laws. This exemption is called an Executive Order (EO) and allows the modification to be installed on specific emission controlled vehicles. Every Executive Order part or modification has an assigned number that can be verified by Smog Check stations, BAR Referee stations, or by the ARB.

How do I get a C.A.R.B. sticker?

All items that have been granted an Executive Order number from C.A.R.B. will have a EO sticker included in the kit and must be placed on or near the device. To see if your vehicle has been granted an Executive Order number, look up your vehicle's year, make and model on the aFepower.com website or on the ARB website. aFe's Executive Orders currently have a range from D-550 to D-550-16. If for some reason you are missing the EO sticker, please contact us via this Form.

WARRANTY
What is aFe's warranty policy when purchased directly from aFe Power or aFepower.com?
  • aFe OE replacement filters are warranted against manufacturer defects for as long as you own the vehicle and it is properly maintained using our filter cleaning kit.
  • aFe universal clamp on air filters and air intake kits are warranted against manufacturer defects for 2 years.
  • aFe racing filters are warranted against manufacturer defects for 1 year.
  • All warranty is contingent on proper installation and proper maintenance using our restore kit.
  • All other aFe products such as our exhaust systems, intake manifolds, turbo chargers and intercoolers have a 2-year warranty.
  • If you purchased your product directly from aFe Power please fill out this Form and you will be contacted with a RGA (Return Goods Authorization) number. aFe will not accept any returns without an RGA number.

Who pays for shipping back to aFe?

It is the responsibility of the purchaser to ship any items back to aFe Power.

Will aFe pay for incidental damages?

No. aFe will either replace or repair the product at aFe's discretion. aFe does not cover damages, towing, shipping, rentals, or any other incidentals.

What if an item is missing from the box?

If you are missing at item from the box, please fill out this Form and you will be contacted by an aFe Power representative or you can call 951-493-7100 and Press 1 Monday through Friday 8:00AM – 4:00 PM PST.

What is an RGA?

An RGA (Return Goods Authorization) number is a number issued for any return being shipped back to aFe. aFe will not accept any returns without an RGA number.

Returns

Accepted Return Items - aFe will only accept returns of new products within 30 days of purchase for a full refund or exchange providing the following:

  • Products are new and in the original packaging
  • Must produce original invoice
  • Products have not been opened
  • Products have not been installed, tampered with or modified in any way

  • Non-returnable Items - The following products cannot be returned:

  • Products older than 30 days from invoice date
  • Any product that has been installed, disassembled or modified
  • Custom ordered products such as a filter built on the Build Your Own Filters section of aFepower.com
  • Products not purchased directly from aFe Power Phone Sales or aFepower.com. Please contact the retailer you purchased from directly
  • If you purchased this product outside of the USA, you must contact the retailer you made the purchase from
  • Any Scorcher Electronics that have been installed and non-defective

  • Shipping Costs:

  • aFe will not cover return shipping fees for the return of non-defective products
  • Any items that are refused will be charged the original shipping fee plus an additional 20% restocking fee
  • Any packages refused by the purchaser will be charged the shipping cost back to aFe Power

  • Product Warranty

  • aFe warrants our products to be free from manufacturer’s defects due to workmanship and materials.
  • The warranty period begins on the original invoice date and covers the applicable period listed below.
  • This warranty applies only to the original purchaser of the product and is non-transferrable.
  • Proof of purchase of the aFe product is required for all warranty claims.
  • Warranty is valid provided aFe instructions for installation and/or cleaning were properly followed.
  • Proper maintenance with regular inspections of product is required to insure warranty coverage.
  • Damage due to improper installation, abuse, unauthorized repair or alteration is not warranted.
  • Incidental or consequential damages or cost, including installation and removal of part, incurred due to failure of aFe product is not covered under this warranty.

  • Defective Products

  • Within 30 days of purchase, a refund is available for unused, unopened products. After this period, aFe Power will repair or replace at our option.
  • No refunds after 30 days of the original invoice date. aFe’s product warranty repair/replacement is available.

  • Exhaust

  • If you are unhappy with the sound, the exhaust can be returned within 30 days of original receipt with a 20% restocking fee. Owner is responsible for returned shipping.
  • No return of installed exhaust manifolds, headers, downpipes, and exhaust tips.

  • Missing Items

    If you are missing any items, fill out the online form at afepower.com/tech. Please have the following items ready:

  • Part Number
  • Copy of invoice
  • List of items missing
  • A photo of a round green sticker located on all exhaust products, filters, air intakes, intercoolers, etc.
  • Your contact and shipping information
  • The serial number of the product, found on or near the aFe Power box label

  • Returning Items

    If you are going to return any product back to aFe, you must first receive an RGA (Returns Good Authorization) number and write that number on the box you are returning, along with a copy of the RGA sent to you.

    All shipments being returned to aFe must be shipped prepaid by the customer If you are requesting a replacement part, you must first receive an RGA and aFe must receive the item for inspection. After review of the product returned and approval by our returns department, aFe will then send a replacement item. aFe will not send any replacement part before receiving the warranty return. aFe Power will refuse any shipment at the shipper’s expense that does not have an RGA clearly marked on the outside of the box. Once the returned item is received and inspected, aFe Power will provide any due credit within ten business days
