How do I clean my aFe air filter?
  • aFe recommends you use one of our Magnum Flow cleaning kits.

  • Pro 5R & Pro 10R – Be sure to purchase the cleaning kit with blue oil
  • Pro Guard 7 – Be sure to purchase the cleaning kit with gold oil
  • Pro Dry S – Does not use any oil. Only purchasing a cleaner

How often do I need to clean my filter?

You should clean the filter around the 25K - 30K mile mark under normal conditions. In extreme dusty or dirty environments, you should check more frequently. Over cleaning the filter will shorten the life of the filter and reduce its filtration efficiency. Accumulating some dirt actually helps the filtration.

What is an aFe Power Magnum Shield Pre-Filter?

aFe Magnum Shield Pre-Filters protect your performance air filter and extends your filter cleaning intervals by removing large particles like twigs and bugs from the air stream prior to the air filter. This pre-filter is made of a dry weave fabric that does not attract dirt and cleans with soap and water.

C.A.R.B.
What is C.A.R.B.?

The California Air Resources Board, also known as CARB or ARB, is the "clean air agency" in the government of California.

Exempted parts are add-on or modified parts that have undergone an ARB engineering evaluation. If the part or modification is shown to not increase vehicle emissions, it is granted an exemption to emission control system anti-tampering laws. This exemption is called an Executive Order (EO) and allows the modification to be installed on specific emission controlled vehicles. Every Executive Order part or modification has an assigned number that can be verified by Smog Check stations, BAR Referee stations, or by the ARB.

How do I get a C.A.R.B. sticker?

All items that have been granted an Executive Order number from C.A.R.B. will have a EO sticker included in the kit and must be placed on or near the device. To see if your vehicle has been granted an Executive Order number, look up your vehicle's year, make and model on the aFepower.com website or on the ARB website. aFe's Executive Orders currently have a range from D-550 to D-550-16. If for some reason you are missing the EO sticker, please contact us via this Form.

What is aFe's warranty policy when purchased directly from aFe Power or aFepower.com?
  • aFe OE replacement filters are warranted against manufacturer defects for as long as you own the vehicle and it is properly maintained using our filter cleaning kit.
  • aFe universal clamp on air filters and air intake kits are warranted against manufacturer defects for 2 years.
  • aFe racing filters are warranted against manufacturer defects for 1 year.
  • All warranty is contingent on proper installation and proper maintenance using our restore kit.
  • All other aFe products such as our exhaust systems, intake manifolds, turbo chargers and intercoolers have a 2-year warranty.
  • If you purchased your product directly from aFe Power please fill out this Form and you will be contacted with a RGA (Return Goods Authorization) number. aFe will not accept any returns without an RGA number.
What is aFe's warranty policy if bought from a retailer?

Who pays for shipping back to aFe?

It is the responsibility of the purchaser to ship any items back to aFe Power.

Will aFe pay for incidental damages?

No. aFe will either replace or repair the product at aFe's discretion. aFe does not cover damages, towing, shipping, rentals, or any other incidentals.

What if an item is missing from the box?

If you are missing at item from the box, please fill out this Form and you will be contacted by an aFe Power representative or you can call 951-493-7100 and Press 1 Monday through Friday 8:00AM – 4:00 PM PST.

What is an RGA?

An RGA (Return Goods Authorization) number is a number issued for any return being shipped back to aFe. aFe will not accept any returns without an RGA number.

Product Returns

If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase from aFePower.com, you may return your aFe POWER product within 30 days of the confirmed shipment arrival date for a full refund of the purchase price.

Returnable Items

  • New and must have the original packaging
  • Original proof of purchase is required
  • Return request items must have been purchased directly from aFe POWER (online or by phone)
  • Product(s) NOT purchased directly from aFe POWER must be returned to the authorized dealer you purchased from
  • Product returns that are used and returned within the 30-day timeframe, are subject to a 20% restocking fee

  • Non-returnable Items

  • Products not purchased from aFe POWER
  • Products that have been installed, tampered with, or modified
  • Custom “Build Your Own Filter” (Part Number Series 21/24/72-99999)
  • Products older than 30 days from the confirmed shipment arrival date

  • Returns Process

  • To initiate a product return, please submit your request along with your order number HERE
  • We will issue you an RGA (Return Goods Authorization) number and instructions on how to complete the return once we receive a valid Returns Request
  • Returns must be shipped within 60 days from the confirmed shipment arrival date with RGA number proof of purchase. Note you will be responsible for the return shipping charges
  • Allow 2-4 weeks for your return to be processed. You will receive an email confirming your credit
  • Shipping Costs: aFe POWER will not cover shipping fees for the return of any item. Any packages refused by the purchaser will be charged the shipping costs back to aFe POWER

  • Statement Regarding Racing Products:

    aFe POWER no longer manufactures nor sells products to the racing market, other than air filters. Any racing products previously sold are not covered by aFe POWER’s warranty policy and are not returnable or refundable.


    Limited Warranty Statement

    aFe POWER Limited Warranty applies solely to products purchased from aFe POWER (online or by phone), or from an authorized aFe POWER retailer, to be free from manufacturer’s defects due to workmanship and materials. The warranty period begins from the confirmed shipment arrival date and covers the applicable period in the Product Category & Warranty Duration section. All warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of the aFe product. Any warranty period will not be extended if we repair or replace the Product.

  • This warranty applies only to the original purchaser of the product and is non-transferrable
  • Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty products last for the lifetime of the product against manufacturer defects, not normal wear and tear. Limited to the lifetime of the part and not of the vehicle.
  • Warranty is valid provided all aFe POWER instructions for installation, service, and/or cleaning were properly followed
  • Proper maintenance with regular inspections of the product is required to ensure warranty coverage
  • Any part replaced under warranty will carry the remainder of the original warranty or 90 days, whichever is longer

  • NOT Covered Under aFe POWER Limited Warranty

  • Any product not purchased directly from aFe POWER (online or by phone) or an aFe POWER authorized dealer and does not carry an original, valid proof of purchase
  • Any product purchased or listed as "Race Only"
  • Any product that is not within the Limited Warranty period or presented by the original purchaser
  • Any costs or damages due to improper installation, abuse, improper maintenance, unauthorized repair, or alteration
  • Incidental or consequential damages or cost, including installation and removal of part, incurred due to failure of aFe POWER product
  • Any products sold under aFe POWER’s Private Label Program
  • All items purchased labeled Closeout, Overstock or Extra Savings are final sales. No returns will be accepted
  • No refunds after 30 days of the confirmed shipment arrival date. aFe POWER’s product warranty repair/replacement is available

  • Warranty Claim Process

    aFe POWER reserves the right to inspect any product to determine the warranty coverage. If a product is found to be defective, it will become the property of aFe POWER and will be replaced at no charge. If a product is determined not covered under the Limited Warranty, it will be returned to you. All aFe POWER warranty decisions are final.

  • To initiate a warranty claim, please submit your request along with your order number HERE
  • You will receive a warranty claim number and an RGA (Returns Good Authorization) number to return the product. Be sure to retain both to track your claim
  • aFe will not send any replacement part before receiving the warranty return
  • Allow 5 to 6 weeks for the warranty process. Replacement product is subject to availability
